PE and Sport Premium

Sports Grant Lead: Emma Bailey
Sports Grant Governor: Steve Porter

As part of the ‘Sports Premium,’ the Government has allocated each school a ‘PE and Sports Grant’ to focus upon raising the level pupil participation within sporting activities. This ‘PE and Sports Grant’ is ring-fenced funding only to be spent on sport within the school.

You can read how we are spending our Sports Premium Grant by downloading our annual reports below, along with the DFE Guidance for primary schools:

DFE GUIDANCE

Physical Education at Watcombe Primary School is a vibrant and integral part of our curriculum, with all pupils participating in two PE sessions each week (alternating between 2 hours and 1 hour). Our programme covers a broad range of activities including invasion games, gymnastics, dance, and outdoor and adventurous challenges. Across Key Stage 2, we also plan exciting residential experiences that promote teamwork and resilience. After-school clubs such as multi-skills and football offer additional opportunities for pupils to stay active, and we are proud to work in partnership with Torquay United Football Club coaches to enhance both pupil engagement and teacher subject knowledge. Every child from Year 1 to Year 6 takes part in annual swimming sessions, ensuring water confidence and safety. Our commitment to sport extends beyond the classroom, with pupils regularly representing the school in competitive football matches, netball tournaments, and swimming galas.
