Magic and Mystery

Back in September, we began our journey into the magical world of Harry Potter.

As a class, we read a few pages of Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone every day. We then talk about any words we don’t know or understand. Then we have to summarise what we haveĀ  read in that session and answer questions about it.

This is a really important skill we are working on, one that will really help when it comes to reading tests in the future.

It has been quite hard for some members of the class, as they are true ‘Potterheads’, and have either read the books or watched the films already. These children are finding it particularly tricky to not give away what happens next in the story!

It would be great if you could talk to your child about the book they are reading at home, see if they can retell some of it to you, or quiz them about it.
