Community and Charity

The school has an active role in the community supporting local events and raising money for different charities.  Each year the Pupil Leadership Team identifies different charities to support and throughout the year all of their fundraising efforts go towards these charities.

  • So far in the 2016-17 school year, the Pupil Leadership Team have chosen to support Children in Need, Anode (with a foodbank collection at Christmas) and Red Nose Day.
  • 2015-16 the Pupil Leadership Team have chosen to support a local charity ANODE. This charity supports families in the local community to ensure that they have the basic provisions for living. They provide food parcels, furniture such as beds and all sorts of advice that can support families in getting the right help at the right time.
  • Our 2013-14 chosen charity was Shelterbox.
  • 2012-13 saw us supporting Rowcroft again after they supported one of our staff’s family.  They told us about the love, care and attention that Rowcroft had shown in caring for someone who was terminally ill.  We raised £125 from carol singing at Sainsbury’s and £200 from collections at the Christmas Plays.  The staff also supported this charity by raising over £1300 by taking part in the Sleepwalk in their pyjamas!
  • Our 2011 charity was Shelterbox as we wanted to support the Rotary in their work as they are marvellous in supporting our school.  Our fundraising managed to purchase a complete box which will be sent to people who need it.
  • In 2010 we chose Marie Curie after they supported one of our families.  They were very pleased to receive a cheque for £800.
  • In 2009 the school supported Rowcroft, our local hospice, as a fundraising branch was being set up in the local area.  On this occasion we managed to raise £2300 through a variety of events organised by the pupils and staff.
